ABOUT US
VIZ stands for VISIBLE ISSUES. Started by artist Adrian Walton-Smith, VIZ make physical special-effects. VIZ works with top freelancers in many fields.
Adrian studied sculpture at Ateliers ’63 in Haarlem. He gained his first special-effects experience with Henk Laurens at Chanowski Film. He quickly turned to free-lance work for theatre mainly, having the opportunity to work for Paul Gallis and the Globe Theatre. Shortly afterwards his introduction to film SFX with Hennie van den Akker of Special Effects Team.
Adrian Walton-Smith started the company. He also makes Fluxus art.
Robert Pachowski is a respected model-maker and colleague. We often worked together on the most tricky of jobs… His influence can be seen in almost every job we do or special-effect we make. Robert is the inventor of a new product, the “BookArrest”. This beautiful product is an ergonomic reading aid developed especially for young students.
We met Paul while working on an articulated robot arm for Erik Rikkelman. Paul is himself an accomplished photographer. He is very interested in special-effects and technique, and often helps us on set. His contribution has been invaluable on several large productions, including the Infiniti car commercial.
We have known Mark for many years. The brother of special-effects pioneer Peter Gilbert of Creative Engineering, he has an inborn talent for electronics and programming. His great work has enhanced several projects recently.
Ernest van Tongeren is self taught and an outrageously gifted modeller. He is a long time friend and colleague. When sculpting is involved ‘who you gonna call?’…
Rob Zimmerman…our teutonic colleague. Always energetic and inventive Rob has a busy life of his own but has helped us out on several technical jobs this year.
Artist and clothing designer Saskia de Zee is a free lance artist.
Having developed many of her skills with “Dogtroep” she went on to make succesful public projects of her own. Her enthousiasm and skill has pulled VIZ through many difficult comissions.
