Beer
Working with beer is a process of gaining experience. Beer is a living liquid. It contains CO2, (unless it is pumped using nitrogen).. It has a limited shelf-life. What is considered a “beautiful” glass of beer may only last 15 seconds! This material pours and splashes, foams and bubbles. It makes condensation and drops.

Cheese and milk
We’ve got extensive tests of milk as a liquid and the many forms of cheese. Pouring and splashing milk, usually in high-speed, we work with cheese under studio conditions. Milk is a slightly viscous fatty liquid which displays it’s own specific properties. Sometimes we need to make model cheese.

Chocolate for commercials
In the chocolate commercials we have worked on, we have provided both models and liquid chocolate… We make many movements with the chocolate and often combine the chocolate with other ingredients like nuts or cherries… Chocolate is expected to conform to many clichés. We need to use artificial chocolate. The “folding” of chocolate would be almost impossible using real chocolate.

Coffee for commercials
We have made several kinds of model beans for use in close-up shots and are specialised in the different kinds of beauty shot. We have closely observed the whole process of coffee-making including roasting and grinding of the beans, different sizes of grain and steam and water-absorption inside the machine.

Tea
VIZ made several over-sized tea bag models and provided the special effects and rigging for several tea commercials. We made our product demos using entirely analogue models and physical special-effects… to show the movement of tea in the bag and the absorption of tea in water.

Soap & cosmetics
VIZ made many different kinds of soap foam for shaving commercial, beauty product commercials, shampoo etc. Demonstrating the beauty of soap often requires very clean high-speed pours and very specific forms of water splashes. Soap is a “living” foaming agent. Working with soap requires attention to timing.

Cars
The processes inside an engine, as well as the electronics used, provide many inspiring images. Here we show several car commercials that we made with Raf Wathion.
We use physical special-effects to look inside the engine, see the sparks, the injection, the explosion. We visualize parking sensors, energy-saving systems and benzine technology.
